What stays in your browser

These are saved with your browser’s local storage, on this device only, and are never sent to us or anyone else:

• reading settings and theme;
• bookmarks and any notes you add to them;
• your last position and the chapters you’ve marked read;
• reading-plan progress;
• recently opened chapters and verses (up to 50 each), and — only if you turn it on — recent searches.

There is no account and no sync. Clearing your browser data, or the button below, removes all of it. No cookies are used.

What your browser requests, and from where

• Reading in English — pages and the World English Bible text are served by LittleOrMore (this site, hosted on Cloudflare). Nothing is requested from any other company.
• Searching — the search index is downloaded from this site once and runs in your browser. What you type is not sent to us. (If JavaScript is off, a reference like “John 3:16” is looked up by this site so it can take you there.)
• Audio and other languages (a future update) — when you choose them, this site asks Bible Brain (Faith Comes By Hearing) for that chapter through our secure server connection, which holds the access key. The audio itself then streams to your browser directly from Bible Brain’s media servers, which therefore see an ordinary request from your device (as any streaming service would). Only the chapter you chose is requested — never your bookmarks, history or settings. Bible Brain terms (opens in a new tab).
• Maps — the map is drawn from files on this site. No map tiles are fetched from any other service.
• Verse cards — drawn in your browser. The image and the verse are never uploaded.

What we don’t do

No analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels, no social-media scripts, no fingerprinting, no third-party fonts or scripts, no reading history or bookmarks on a server, no profiles.

Like any website, the hosting platform (Cloudflare) processes requests in order to deliver pages; its logs here record the page requested without query strings and are used only to keep the site running. We don’t combine them with anything or use them to follow anyone.

Offline

If your browser supports it, the site keeps a copy of its own pages and of chapters you’ve read, so they open without a connection. Bible Brain audio and text are never stored for offline use.
